Organisers of the sold-out 2015 Knysna Blues Festival have included Plett in their “Blues & Blues-Rock” roadshow this year – an event that promises music-lovers a bit more than they’re accustomed to…
The newly-established Plett Blues Festival, will showcase both world-renowned musicians and local talent. Taking place on the 19th December, from 15h00 at the Barnyard Theatre, the event will feature an impressive line up of six Blues and Blues-inspired bands – five of which are travelling down specifically for the show.
Headlined by the likes of Crimson House, Albert Frost, Mean Black Mamba (ft. Dave Ferguson) and Ann Jangle (who’s currently recording a brand new album) the music event is set to rival the entertainment value and mix of Blues styles of much larger city concerts, while maintaining the cosiness, relaxed atmosphere and friendliness associated with The Barnyard.
Adding even more soul to the festival will be Plett’s local music legend Mel Botes, supported by the Knysna township instrumental trio, The Sequence Band – definitely a music talent to watch out for in the near future.
“We absolutely love home-grown music and see our country’s bands as good as, if not better than, International ones.” says Jackie Barham, festival Director. “We started these events to grow local musicians and to help expose their music to a much wider audience. We also believe Blues has the largest appeal because it’s the foundation for many other music genres… so it just makes sense.”
Dominic Morel, festival Marketing Director, adds that “this is one of those events that doubles, year-on-year. It is a brand waiting to explode… because everyone, in their souls and beings, love and connect with the idea of Blues“.
Tickets for the event are available from Plett Tourism for R200 (day festival access, plus a pair of uniquely-branded pair of ‘Blues’ Wayfarer sunglasses – Free!). A limited ‘pre-booking’ ticket for out-of-town fans, who can’t get to the ticket point, will be available via EFT (Contact Jackie on 084 587 6665 or jackie@betterlive.co.za).
