Guided Experiential Bush, Beach and Marine Eco-Learning Adventures

Published: September 13th, 2017

The African Edu-Eco Wizard has devised a number of Experiential Bush Eco-Learning Adventures on the Garden Route to challenge people and teams in unfamiliar terrain with all the hidden secrets, dangers and pleasures of the African Bush, Beach and Marine environments exposed.

Experiential and Transformational Adventure Programming is aimed at understanding concepts, enriching the knowledge of old concepts, or generating awareness of previously unknown needs through adventure. We characterise participants in these programs as people focused on learning through adventure. The bush and its inhabitants demonstrate a number of synergies with normal human existence where communication, teamwork, trust, interdependence, decision making, conflict resolution, competition and survival are the key strategies.

It is with this view in mind that the following programs have been devised. Most of the programs can be conducted in isolation although numerous tailor-made combinations are possible. The prescribed bush activities are conducted at venues in and around Plett. Groups of up to 10 people can be handled with a 1:10 facilitator to participant ratio being observed depending on the risk profile of the activity program. Our instructors are professional and very highly qualified, survivors in their own right, educators and teachers who love sharing and teaching what they know and have experienced.

 Experiential Bush Eco-Learning Adventures

HALF DAY – BUSHCRAFT AND SURVIVAL ECO-ADVENTURE – R 750.00pp

The half day (9am – 1pm) Bush-craft and Survival program has been designed to create awareness amongst the group of the strategies which need to be employed using basic bushcraft as a means to survive. Concepts you will be exposed to during this one day event will comprise the basics of survival adaptability, basic navigation and orienteering skills, basic weapon and trapping improvisation techniques, what to eat and not to eat – palatability testing,  reading and understanding the bush, behaviours associated with animals, and bush culinary skills.

THE ULTIMATE OVERNIGHT BUSH SURVIVAL ECO-ADVENTURE – R1 750.00pp

It has its own means of maintaining equilibrium where only the strong survive. This overnight program emphasises aspects such as food and water assimilation, shelter construction, direction finding and survival strategy where team members are responsible for each other’s safety.  Animals lurk and a night watch strategy is needed for the night. Bush culinary skills are tested to the fullest as are the elements such as cold, dehydration and insects. Take up the survival challenge and break from the norm – exercise your spirit of adventure.
