A hearty helping of Delicious Film and Compelling Food
Plett Tourism’s 4th edition of Plett Food & Film screened the last item on the Main Menu, Casablanca, on Wednesday night to 100 guests who were treated to a very special Moroccan-themed evening. Highlights included conversations with celebrity chef Jenny Morris; a local MCC tasting with Bramon, Kay & Monty and Packwood wine farms; a spectacular Moroccan feast prepared by Jenny; Beefeater gin cocktails and of course – the Academy award-winning movie. The evening was topped off with a performance from acclaimed musician Martin Wolfaardt aka “Sam” as he played it again on his piano.
Plett Food & Film continues with its On the Side event at Emily Moon on the 20th of July, a screening of The Way in aid of the Plett StreetSmart programme.
Plett Food & Film director, Cindy Wilson-Trollip, sums up the 3 days on the Main, “Three films from 3 different eras, all set against a backdrop of socio-political conflict, provided much food for thought this year. The determination, resilience and triumph of the human spirit was celebrated with excellent food, wine and stirring live performances. We hope the evenings lingered long after the credits rolled.”
This year, Plett Tourism and their partner in the Plett Food & Film, Ikasi Media, hosted a Mobile Catering & Catering for the Film Industry workshop. Presented by Byron de Carvalho of Shesha Caterers, this formed part of Ikasi Media’s intensified local upskilling and training programme, in line with the Garden Route Klein Karoo strategy to attract film makers to our region, to prepare locals for participation in this industry.
