Several search and rescue organisations in Plettenberg Bay will be embarking on a search and rescue training exercise on Wednesday, August 23.

Plettenberg Bay residents and visitors have been warned not to be alarmed when they see rescue workers out in full force on Wednesday August 23, as several organisations will be participating in a training exercise.

According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) in Plettenberg Bay, the coastal holiday town will be hosting a combined land and sea search and rescue training exercise on Wednesday.

The organisations involved will include the NSRI, Mountain Rescue and the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA).

This exercise is aimed at developing the co-operation between these local volunteer organisations and the improvement of search, communication and rescue skills required in the event of an emergency.

There will be activity in the bay on land and sea between the Beacon Island Hotel and Robberg. Flares may be fired.

There will also be vehicles operating on the beach and activity in the roads parallel to Robberg Beach as far as Robberg Beach End.
