The MAD Festival, presenting jazz, drama, live bands, fashion and international food film against the backdrop of the town’s Indian Ocean, Tsitsikamma forests and Robberg Nature Reserve, opens its doors on the 30th of June. Going into its fourth year, the festival has been firmly cemented onto the annual Garden Route calendar of events. This is a celebration of music, arts, literature, fashion and drama strategically aligned with both the National Arts Festival from 29 June – 9 July and the Knysna Oyster Festival from 7 – 16 July.

Plett Fringe will once again open the festival with their music and drama features at The White House Theatre Venue. Now in its fifth year, Plett Fringe will have an exciting lineup of performers ready to entertain before they head further along the Garden Route to Grahamstown. Plett Fringe is in aid of the Kids of Kurland and provides a large economic and cultural boost for the community of Plett, and creates awareness of the Kids of Kurland charity.

During the festival, several other venues around town host renowned artists and provide platforms for performances and restaurants to feature on a guests’ MAD mustdo list. These performances showcase local musical talent, theatrical actors and visual artists who inspire and nourish the artistic community of Plettenberg Bay. During the Plett 24Hour Reunion street fashion comes alive with photographers, models and musicians as they display the latest in street fashion, bringing with them innovative designs and allowing them opportunity to be creative in an nourishing environment.
