Polo Horses Parade Down Plett Main Street

Published: December 22nd, 2013

There was much excitement in the air on Friday evening as hordes of holiday makers left the beaches and gathered along Plett’s Main Street for a parade of this season’s polo ponies and their riders.

The polo parade, seen for the first time in Africa, featured both South African and International teams trotting their elegant and well-behaved mounts down the Main Street to the enchantment of the crowds.

The polo season is a treasured part of the summer scene in Plett and the parade was organised to promote the exciting polo matches that will be held at the Kurland Polo field. There were many smiles from the players, in full match kit, as they proudly displayed their beautiful ponies – even the beginner children were included and delightedly walked their ponies in the parade.

The main event of the season is the International Polo Match, which will be held at Kurland on 29th December – not to be missed! Visit www.plettpolo.co.za for full match fixtures and more information.
