Organising the Tour de Plett – Newsletter

Published: October 4th, 2015

We have been hectically getting ready for you, Route enhancing, finalising the THREE FLOATING BRIDGES and making sure the finish village is well integrated into the Wine & Bubbly Festival.

Routes – Plett has had one of the rainiest Septembers in many a year and that means the “route monster” (vintage Landy) has been hard at work.

  • The Buffelsnek Forest section has been cut and the road repaired…Big thanks to Tom Eckley of MTO for his help.
  • The Buffalo Hills Game Reserve descent is now clear and ready to challenge your skills… this is what we call “unmanicured” singletrack for real MTB’ers
  • For the last serious climb out of the Denron Valley you will have a choice of routes…”Hard Core” or “Chicken Run”…we know you won’t use it (or will you ???)
  • The MTO Bridge over the Piesang River at the finish has been made a little tricky by the heavy rains which re-shaped the mouth of the river and the fact that we are close to Spring Tide. The good news is that Spring high is only at 14:40, so if you ride fast you’ll have no problem!
  • The new singletrack looks awesome and a HUGE thanks to Pennypinchers who made the two floating bridges over the Bitou River possible.
