Weather Alert: High seas expected

spring-tide-waves-in-plettSevere Weather Alerts have been issued by the South African Weather service for the Central Karoo, and coastal parts of the Eden District. These warnings are valid for today and tomorrow.

High seas with wave heights in excess of 6m are expected between Cape Agulhas and Plettenberg Bay by Tuesday, 11 October, subsiding by evening.

Strong Winds. Please be aware that strong damaging winds are to be expected, we advise that you please stay indoors and where possible stay away from windows that are open, facing the direction of the severe winds.

Be aware of sudden cross winds if traveling, especially between buildings. Be on the lookout for fallen trees and/or power lines as well as flying debris.

Small boats must stay away from the open sea and seek the shelter of a harbour, river estuary or protected bay.

Parked aircraft should be pointed into the direction of the wind and secured.

We advise our residents to stay alert and listen to the news and/or television for updates and and obey the instructions from disaster management officers.
