Long standing Jazz establishment Skhulu’z Lounge in Kwano, together with Plett Tourism, will sponsor a Jazz Workshop during the Plett Arts Festival.

Local musicians of all sorts- guitarists, pianists, vocalists and anyone who calls himself or herself a muso, will have an opportunity to interact and learn from some of South Africa and Africa’s best and successful artists during the Plett Arts Fest, in what is correctly called- “Skhulu’z Lounge Jazz Workshop”.

This interactive encounter will be presented by top jazz and urban musicians who will be performing at this year’s Plett Arts Fest. A platform that will provide attendees with an opportunity to hear first-hand, from successful artists about what it takes to perform and sell albums all over the world. A platform that I hope will empower and help local and upcoming artists make informed decisions that will lead to sustainable and profitable careers in the music industry.

Leading the workshop are jazz maestros Pops Mohamed, Dave Reynolds, Ronan Skillen and Charlton Daniels.

skhuluz-lounge-logo“Approaching the one-of-a-kind workshop in such a way that the participants will determine the direction taken, the multi-talented musicians will take participants on an exploratory journey. Through group conversations and cross-pollinated jam sessions, you will be invited to enter into a unique creative process through the seasoned hands of masters, to develop skills and cultivate an interest into the deeper, unifying aspects of world music” so read a statement from the aforementioned artists.

Come through on the 7th of July, from 11h00 to 13h00, at Piesang Valley Hall. Entrance is R50, and free for AFROJAZZ ticket holders. For more information, visit the Plett Tourism office at Melville’s Corner.

The key word in development is collaboration. Kudos to Skhulu’z Lounge in partnership with Plett Tourism for giving back to the community.
