On World Ocean Day, 8th June, Brayley and Andy took a boat trip with Ocean Blue Adventures

To celebrate and honour World Ocean Day (8th of June) two of the Plett tourism team (Brayley and Andy) went on an Ocean Blue Adventure. It was a very beautiful day, the absolutely perfect weather to take a boat ride along the coast and in the bay, to catch sight of the marine creatures who live here.

Upon our arrival, we were met by the wonderful and super friendly tour guide Nino. We firstly took all the Covid protocols (sanitizing, checking temperature, and filling in a form), and then put on our life jackets and had a safety talk before we walked down to Central beach to the launch spot.

Going on the boat was very exciting. We took a 90-minute ride on a perfect day, invigorated by a gentle sea breeze and the fresh ocean air. We were on a constant lookout for any whales and were lucky enough to spot a few from a distance, you just have to keep your eyes open. One of the most enjoyable parts of our day was seeing the seals as we approached Robberg. There were so many of them, we couldn’t keep count.

We were also very lucky to spot a great white shark and we have to say that was the highlight of our day. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience with Ocean Blue Adventures. A huge shout out to them for having us on board.  And happy World Oceans Day everyone!
