Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Xhosa people with our Idinga Township tour and cultural experience in Kwanokuthula informal settlement.

Our guided tour offers a unique opportunity to experience the daily life of the local community, either on our Kwano Lifestyle Day Tour which starts at 10:00 in the morning and ends at 13:30 in the afternoon, and you can enjoy lunch at Mila’s Kitchen or arrive early and have breakfast, all meals at Mila’s is traditional, or come hungry for our evening tour where we take you for dinner first and then for a dance, our Kwano Lifestyle Evening Tour starts at 18:00 and ends between 21:00-10:30.

As you explore the settlement, you will gain a deeper understanding of the history, traditions, and customs of the Xhosa people. Our local guides will share stories and insights into the communities, struggles and triumphs, providing an authentic and intermit perspective.

During the tour, you will have the chance to engage with the community and participate in varies activities, such as visiting a local creche on weekdays or walking the streets of Kwano on the weekends, exploring the local businesses such as the dreadlock salon, the spaza shop, the taverns and the Kazi Tshisanyama where you can taste the traditional cooking, hear the local music and rhythm and the feeling of the Ubuntu vibe.

You can also have the opportunity to volunteer and make a positive impact on the community, we have a 14-day volunteer project available where you will live with local families which has opened their homes for homestays. We have projects where you can help with children’s day care, or support an elderly person with daily chores or if you are handy with woodwork we have many opportunities such as building cots or veggie gardens.
