After discussions between the Plett Tourism Association and the acting Bitou Municipal Manager, Plett Tourism is pleased to be able to report that the lagoon estuary is no longer deemed to be a “beach” and is now open to the public.

All relevant authorities have been briefed on this development. We take the opportunity to thank the acting Municipal Manager for his support and giving of his time to give consideration to the matter.

The beaches remain closed but an urgent application, brought by Plett Tourism together with two other applicants,  to lift the ban on all beaches, has been lodged this afternoon and is due to be heard on Tuesday.

We ask that those who make use of the lagoon give due consideration to the efforts of those who have contributed to this initiative by ensuring that all social distancing and other Covid–19 protocols are strictly adhered to at all times.

Adherence will be monitored and we all need to bear in mind that closure of any area can be ordered in the event that non-adherence to protocols becomes a problem.
