NOTE: Entries are now closed for the Plett Film Food Festival

Dear Filmmakers

iKasi Media is partnering with Plett Tourism to host the first South African FOOD FILM FESTIVAL. For 3 days we will indulge our senses in all things culinary, tickling our palates and feasting our eyes!

There are Food Film Festivals around the world, the Amsterdam Food Film Festival, The Film & Cook Festival in Madrid and the New York Food Film Festival to name a few. We are excited to present the first of its kind in Africa.

We believe this will become a national event drawing large audiences and food lovers, connoisseurs and experts from far and wide. The festival will take place in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa’s most attractive tourist destination.

The festival has set the following objectives:

  • To entertain festival participants with quality SCREENINGS of world-class local and international feature films, short films and documentaries that explore food, farming, food manufacture, food sustainability and anything that celebrates gastronomy!
  • To inform festival participants with ‘edifying’ DISCUSSIONS after screenings and in forums within these themes hosted by experts in the field.
  •  To delight the senses with gourmet culinary PRESENTATIONS by local food connoisseurs linked to the films on the program.

You are cordially invited to participate in the PLETT FOOD FILM FESTIVAL. We would like to view your films and/or any proposals for discussions or presentations within the theme of the festival.

Selected filmmakers, producers and distributors will be hosted by Plett Tourism at the first annual Plett Food Film Festival. The provisional dates for the festival are 10, 11 and 12 July 2014.

We require a viewing copy of your film by 30 April 2014. All copies must be clearly marked and sent together with a copy of the producer/filmmaker’s identification and the submission form, to:

Postal: Events at Plett Tourism, PO Box 338, Plettenberg Bay 6600
Physical: Plett Tourism Office, 1st Floor Melvilles Centre, Main Street, Plettenberg Bay

We regret that we cannot return the copy of your film. The film selection will be made by the selection committee and no correspondence will be entered into. Do however, direct your queries to

If you would like to propose a presentation or a discussion please contact us at the above email address.

We hope you will join the South African Food Film Fest family, and partner with us to grow this pioneering Food Film Festival into a national tradition!
