Patagonia, Earth, Fire, Passion
On the 3 July, Emily Moon and chef Alex Olivier transport you to a secret island in Patagonia where you’ll feast from a table cooked exclusively on the open fire and meet the legendary Francis Mallmann.
VENUE: Emily Moon River Lodge
DATE: 3 July 2019
TIME: 17h00 for 17h30
COST: R450 per person
Described by CN Traveller as “a meat-smoking nomad who quotes poetry and has barbecued for David Beckham and the King of Spain”, Mallmann is also Argentina’s most renowned cook, catapulted to fame after he was featured in the culinary documentary series, Chef’s Table.
Mallmann’s unique style of cooking harnesses the element of fire, producing hearty food that is as much about its romance and mise-en-scène as the delicious smoky taste.
Before the screening, chef Alex Olivier will guide you in an interactive cooking demonstration, followed by a true Mallmann-style family feast. Envision platters laden with braised meats, roasted vegetables and freshly baked breads.
“I am a cook that uses cooking to send this message of a way of living. I’m always cooking in remote places, in the wild, with fires. So my message is: Get out of your chair or your sofa or your office, and go out.”
Tickets at Emily Moon 044 501 2500 and Plett Tourism office.
