fringe festival 2014 line upEnjoy a Festival of  Theatre to include drama, comedy, magic, song and dance. All of the acts are to be presented at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown the artists to stop en route to the Eastern Cape and stage an extra performance for Plett’s very own Fringe Festival.

The festival is in support of The Kids of Kurland Project, a project that seeks to raise funds for the children of Kurland Village, an impoverished community, some twenty kilometres to the east of Plett.

BIG GIRLS | Thurs 26th June, 8 p.m.

Following on from the sell-out shows BIG BOYS and ASH & VAN EXPOSED, the BIG GIRLS production features three fabulously talented and totally over-the-top chicks who hold it together when all else fails. Hilarious and brilliant vocal acts are seamlessly strung together with absurdly appropriate narrative.

Age suggestion – 12 years +

 

THINK TWICE | Fri 27th June, 8 p.m.

A show filled with psychological illusions, mind-magic, and plenty of laughs. Hailed by critics as “mesmerising” and “captivating”, Brendon Peel will definitely live up to expectations. So why not make this festival a magical one and come on down to Think Twice?

THE TREE SHOW (Family Theatre) | Sat 28th June, 3 p.m.

It’s a wedding day. Ons trou vandag. Siyatshata namhlanje.The importance of nature and trees in our life is beautifully portrayed as the townsfolk prepare for a wedding ceremony with singing, dancing and tree planting.

MORE HERMAN CHARLES BOSMAN STORIES  | Sat 28th June, 8 p.m.

After rave reviews and a sell-out show last year, actor David Muller returns to the Plett Fringe Festival with more Oom Schalk Stories! Don’t miss David’s enthralling retelling of some of Herman Charles Bosman’s best short stories.

Fly over Africa and you will see huge stone circles that used to be the homes of our ancestors. In the forests and on the open plains, rotten meat and bones turn to white powder. But you will never see the tusks; the elephant is still paying back its debt to men.

James Cairns performs in this hilarious comedy about three friends and a dog trying to get to a funeral. The road trip in this masterful one-man show is a dazzling roller coaster of laughter.

MR JOHNSON PRESENTS… | Mon 30th June, 8 p.m.

Award-winning cabaret artist Godfrey Johnson presents his new comedy cabaret show. The evening will feature original songs about lovers, coffee, food, gym, fanatics and noses as well as works by Kurt Weill, Mozart, Tori Amos, The Sex Pistols, and an Elizabethan love song.

A brand new musical comedy, a TV game show with a bite! The show welcomes a special guest whose heart and soul are on the line. He has just cashed in his chips! Can he convince the audience that he was a good guy? Or will he be stuck in an afterlife of TV reruns forever and ever?
