Free orientation course to film and digital media in Plett
iKasi Creative Media in collaboration with Bitou Municipality is presenting a free Orientation to film and digital media.
It is a 5-day programme and will take place in Plettenberg Bay. If you are between the ages of 18 and 35, have a matric certificate and do not work full time, you are invited!
The training will be presented from Monday 31 May to Friday 4 June 2021 in Plettenberg Bay at Piesang Valley Hall. This 5-day Orientation is a great opportunity, for 30 young residents from each town to learn new skills that equip them to tell their own stories, using their mobile phones. We also look at entrepreneurial development and the many career paths in the film and TV industry.
After the 5 – day training 25 learners will be selected to follow through onto an accredited 3-Month Skills Programme, giving learners access to industry professionals who train in the different filmmaking departments. The practical component of the training is a 24 min documentary about the history of the area, looking specifically at forced removals and the displacement of people. The film is also a celebration of heritage as told through the eyes of the youth. Learners will be guided through the technical aspects of the script to screen process. Those who complete the full programme will be issued a MICT SETA accredited certificate.
iKasi Creative Media was started by Lika Berning, Lamise Inglis and Khanya Sosibo, each with many years of experience in the Film, TV, and Entertainment industry, and today their programmes are taking place across the West Coast and Garden Route. Their vision is to bring hope and purpose to marginalized and previously disadvantaged youth, to empower them to unlock employment and entrepreneurship opportunities in digital media, in their towns, and to tell their own stories using accessible technology.
