Hundreds take part in Plett Jerusalema flash mob
Our seaside town joined in on the worldwide dance sensation when a few 100 Plettonians descended on the Main Street to dance along to the upbeat gospel song.
Jerusalema, a song by South African producer and DJ Master KG, features vocalist Nomcebo. It was released in November 2019 and has since been a hit globally.
On our local end, organisers of the event last Saturday hoped to attract upwards of 1000 Plett peeps all in effort to revive our spirits, and declare for all to know that Plett is open for business; and after the last five months of being locked indoors and working remotely, we needed that jol.
One thing this dance challenge has proved that determined, the Plett community can unite for a common vision, this is the “Plett feeling” we should never tire to foster.
Earlier this month Plett was nominated for the 11th year running as the leading beach destination in the World Travel Awards, proving yet again, much like her people – the resilient spirit of this coastal town.
As the nationwide lockdown moves to level 2 and leisure travel is being permitted, the Western Cape Government’s Tourism Department has urged its institutions and other stakeholders to use this dance challenge to, amongst others, promote domestic tourism, so that tourism dependent towns such as Plett can reap the much needed economic spinoffs.
Off course, I couldn’t miss this amazing experience; albeit not on the dance floor, but I certainly did enjoy the vibes.
You go Plett!!
