Kay & Monty Vineyards to host the revived “Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival” in partnership with Plett Tourism

This autumn, the Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival will make its much-anticipated return to the local events calendar when it is hosted at Kay & Monty Vineyards over the weekend of 26 &  27 April. A partnership between Plett Wine Route and Plett Tourism, this lively celebration of the South African wine scene’s best kept secret will offer tastings of exclusively W.O. Plettenberg Bay wines, as well as masterclasses, live music and delicious snacks.

Held over the Freedom Day long weekend, this sophisticated two-day event will bring together serious collectors and casual connoisseurs, as well as the winemakers, viticulturists and farm managers who guide the process from grape to glass; all gathering together to toast the good life.

Stretching from Harkerville to The Crags, the Plett Wine Route is one of the smallest and most dynamic wine production regions in South Africa. At its heart are a handful of small, privately-owned wine farms crafting exceptional still and sparkling wines from the cool-climate varietals that thrive here. Plett’s warm summers and mild, dry winters produce mouthwatering harvests of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir; all of which are considered the area’s signature vines.

Although recent awards are too numerous to name, it is worth noting that Newstead took the Best Producer Award at the Amorim Cap Classique Challenge 2024, while Kay & Monty shared the Double Gold podium with Newstead in the category of Extended Lees Ageing for the same awards; an astonishing achievement for two family-run wine estates on the Garden Route.

Tickets are available from Quicket

ABOUT KAY & MONTY

Once a rambling protea farm and dairy, Kay & Monty Vineyards is now a charming 220-hectare wine farm, polo estate and wedding venue. The land was purchased in 2004 by Chick Legh, who planted the first vines five years  later and produced its maiden vintage in 2012, making Kay & Monty one of the early pioneers of the Plett Wine

Route. Chick’s legacy is honoured by his family, general manager, Jennifer Woods, and winemaker, Anton Smal, who work closely together to craft interesting, innovative wines that Chick would have loved.

The full range of Kay & Monty Vineyards wines can be tasted on-site on our farm in The Crags, and ordered for courier delivery via our website: https://www.kayandmonty.com/our-wines
