Lunchbox Theatre 7th Birthday Celebration

This dynamic live theatre organization got together in July for an annual meeting of the board, and to celebrate all the wonderful times and successes that the company has seen over the years.

Highlights of Lunchbox Theatre in the past year include bringing the wonderful educational theatre shows about trees, whales, animal welfare and children’s rights to various schools, public events, malls and community centres in the Garden Route and also the Eastern Cape.

In April 2015, the theatre group participated in the Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe, where they performed and got a great response for their children’s rights show iLifa – Inheritance. Other highlights include staging the Whale Show at the launch of Plett & Knysna marine Hope Spot, and sending one of the actresses, Amanda Valela, to Austria for a 12 day workshop, to exchange and gain further skills around performing arts, directing and scriptwriting. These trips to overseas were made possible by Assitej – Theatre for children and young people.

Lunchbox Theatre keeps up the great work through their performances and through Bitou10 workshops that are regularly organized in the Bitou municipality for school children, around drama, dance and other performing arts.

Donations, big or small, and monthly contributions to this worthy cause are gratefully received via Givengain, through Lunchbox Theatre’s website: www.lunchbox.org.za, so that we can continue with this inspring work. Thank you to all those who have, in so many ways, helped us over the years!
