New Urban Trail Concept in Plett Central Launched – the Klein Piesang Nature Park

A new urban trail concept was launched by the Plettenberg Bay Community Environment Forum at Barrington’s – in the heart of Piesang Valley Road. The new Klein Piesang Nature Park concept offers residents and visitors a fresh way to experience the eco-conscious town of Plettenberg Bay, in the Garden Route.

Designed to wildlife, nature, eco-tourism, and wellness, the trail connects indigenous fauna and flora with a precious ecosystem of endemic species. Additionally, the park with focus on the river health of the Klein Piesang river and will encourage people to engage with their surroundings in an active and meaningful way.

With the support of the Bitou Municipality, the Plettenberg Bay Community Environment Forum, other stakeholders, and community leaders hope the trail will promote sustainable tourism while also benefiting local businesses.

With its focus on accessibility and inclusivity, the trail features routes for different fitness levels. Whether strolling, jogging, or cycling, participants can customize their experience while enjoying a healthier, more connected urban lifestyle.

The launch event featured an overview of the concept, setting the stage for what promises to be a lasting community asset. As the area of Bitou and Plett Tourism look for ways to promote outdoor recreation, this urban trail concept could serve as a model for other areas in Bitou to follow.
