It may look like your average seafood joint, however Ocean Basket Plett is anything but! I waltzed in last Thursday night around 20h00 to sample what they have in store for us this winter.

You don’t come to Plett for food, but rather the picturesque views and pristine beaches that the town offers; however, with Plett’s newest seafood joint, you get the best of everything in one go.

Situated in Plett’s Main Street, Ocean Basket Plett has a view of the Tsitsikamma, Keurbooms and Nature’s Valley.

The food! Choose from a selection of fish, seafood, sushi and a selected range of Mediterranean dishes. Seafood being their biggest draw-card, expect freshly prepared fish with savoury herbal qualities.

I tried out their winter menu. For starters I had the creamy mussel soup with potato pieces and then proceeded to main with their vitality platter: grilled fish, calamari & five prince prawns served with dukkah butter, and roasted Med veg.

Psst: the dukkah relish is a mixture of herbs, spices and nuts (hazelnuts), so avoid if allergic to nuts.

Prices are reasonable as appetizers will cost you between R20 to R100, mains vary from R100 to R300 and your salads begin at R55 to R95. To top it all, the portions sizes are generous, and the wine list is very accessible.

I suggest you go there early to enjoy an excellent dining and food experience.
