An offshore educational adventure seal watching with Thandi and Andy
Thandi Mabukane and Andy Nonkosana from the Plett Tourism front office, braved the ocean to experience the seals first-hand and lived to tell the tale.
It was on the 13th November 2020 a calm morning and a beautiful sunny day and off we went to Offshore Adventures for an educational trip.
We went to the Offshore Adventures offices which are located at the car park of Central Beach, and were welcomed by the most friendly guide named Tristan. The first thing was to follow all Covid 19 protocols by sanitizing, checking our temperatures and filling out the forms – then we were geared up and we were ready to go.
On the boat, we experienced the fresh air and brisk sea-breeze, and looking out over the beautiful blue shining water we saw dolphins and seals. One of the highlights of the day was the sighting of the elephant seal, the name already says it all – it was a huge one.
There was an option to swim with the seals but on this day we preferred to observe – but next time we will! This trip is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and unforgettable.
