Tim and Petrus Maree will be representing Plett when they race in the Plett colours in Canada by competing in the Raid International Gaspesie race which takes place from September 7 to 10, 2017.

Plett Adventure Racing Team wrap up their Expedition Africa 2017 race placing an impressive 10 out of 39
The Expedition Africa 2017 adventure race saw team Skylotec Adventure place first on Wednesday, 18th of May after only four days of racing. As they anticipated their several days of catching up on sleep and stuffing themselves to replenish and refuel their minds and bodies, the remaining racers were still dreaming of crossing that line.
Plett Tourism’s sponsored participants, the Plett Adventure Racing Team, crossed the line in 10th place, after 105 hours and 514km of adventure racing.

The start of the fourth day of Expedition Africa dawned as the Plett Adventure Racing Team made their way along the coast from Gamtoos River Mouth into Jeffrey’s Bay to their penultimate transition of the adventure race, Expedition Africa 2017 – Baviaans.
The past few days have seen these incredible athletes trek 140km, cycle 200km and paddle 40km across the Eastern Cape, crossing rivers, peddling dirt roads and hiking through the Cape Buffalo region of the Baviaanskloof. The start of Expedition Africa dawned with a cold breeze and clear skies as both South African and international teams gathered on the beach at Cape St Francis for the start of the seventh Expedition Africa, an event on the Adventure Racing World Series. Expedition Africa 2017 will take place in the beautiful Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. This year's race will have exclusive use of the Baviaans Kloof Wilderness area as well as the beautiful coastline of Cape St Francis.
Teams will stay at the magnificent Cape St Francis Resort which makes it easier to bring the entire family along on an adventure of a lifetime.

It was with a stomach full of butterflies that the Plett Adventure Racing Team: Drew, Petrus (Pete), Andrew (Buddy) and Kate (Meisie) lined up for start of Expedition Africa (EA) 2016 on the Garden Route. EA is a 500km+ adventure race where competitors use a topographic map and compass to navigate between checkpoints. Teams also encounter transition points in the race, where they need to change between disciplines. We started that morning ready to tackle 18 transitions, with only 2 re-supply boxes available to us over the duration of the event.

After 5 days and 22 hours organisers, volunteers, athletes, supporters and sponsors have officially begun wrapping up the 2016 edition of Expedition Africa. This gruelling 500km adventure race ventured teams and individuals on a mixture of self discovery and hard competitive racing.
The Garden Route played host to the 6th annual event on the Adventure Racing World Series circuit, seeing 53 teams gather at Pine Lake Marina for this exquisite race. 54 teams from around the world set of on a grueling 500km expedition, an adventure race through the Garden Route. After a gutsy start and early break away, Team Featherbed Painted Wolf consisting of brothers, Mark Collins - the team captain, John Collins -the navigator, Jeannie Dreyer and Darren Berry a volunteer for the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), crossed the finishing line as winners of Expedition Africa in 3 days, 12 hours and 33minutes after the start.
