Plett Rage 2021 Cancelled due to Rise in positive Covid cases throughout South Africa
Published: December 2nd, 2021

Official joint statement of Bitou Municipality and Plett Tourism:

Due to the alarming number of positive COVID cases reported throughout South Africa, and with the positive cases identified through the COVID pre-screening protocols required by the organisers of Plett Rage, they have announced the cancellation of this year’s event.

Although the organisers implemented the most stringent COVID preventative measures, there was no way to preempt the devastation that the current pandemic surge would cause.

The Bitou Municipality and Plett Tourism commend the Plett Rage team and appreciate all the hard work and dedication they have put into one of SA’s most iconic matric events, in particular the safety measures and COVID protocols they had in place. This was not an easy decision to make, it has a devastating effect on the Plett Rage team, the students and the local economy.

We continue to encourage all local businesses to follow strict COVID protocols to ensure a safe summer season. We also ask that our community remain understanding, continue to support local businesses and each other through these difficult times.

Voluntary COVID-19 antigen tests

Voluntary COVID-19 antigen tests are available at the Piesang Valley Hall for the students should they suspect they may be sick.

Taxis for students

Taxis are available around town for students to use. These are general taxis and it is R20 per person per trip within the CBD. Outside the CBD will cost more.

Strict national COVID-19 regulations will be enforced at all times.
