Plett Rage 2025 Concludes 25th Anniversary With a Safe and Successful Student Festival
Plett Rage successfully concluded its 25th anniversary edition in 2025, delivering a safe, well-managed student festival experience in Plettenberg Bay. Over the past two and a half decades, more than 100,000 students have attended Plett Rage, cementing its position as South Africa’s longest-running and most established student festival.
Regarded by many students as the final chapter before entering adulthood, Plett Rage has become a unique cultural milestone for school leavers across the country. The 2025 edition marked this transition for a new generation of students through a tightly managed, safety-first celebration.
Beyond the week of festivities, the event serves as a vital introduction to the region’s broader appeal. While students come for the music and celebration, they spend their days exploring Plett’s world-class beaches, hiking trails, and local eateries. This early exposure creates a lasting emotional connection to the town; many “Ragers” who first discovered the Garden Route during their festival years return later in life as young professionals and parents, bringing their own families back to vacation in the place where their journey into adulthood began.
The main festival grounds for Plett Rage 2025 were hosted at Cairnbrodgie, with all attendee movement to and from the venue managed exclusively via the official Plett Rage taxi and shuttle services. This transport system formed a critical part of the event’s safety strategy, ensuring that no private driving to the festival grounds was permitted. Plett Rage does not support driving under the influence, and the controlled transport model was implemented to actively prevent drinking and driving while maintaining full visibility over attendee movement.

The 2025 edition featured a carefully curated entertainment programme with over 40 locally booked artists, including Grammy Award-winning Zakes Bantwini, Spoegwolf, Early B, Kasango, Dwson, Roz, Xavier Dragner and more. The diverse lineup delivered a week of performances across multiple genres while operating within a tightly controlled, safety-first environment.
Throughout the festival, a comprehensive, multi-layered safety network was implemented across all venues, accommodation zones and transport routes. The event operated in close collaboration with professional security services, medical teams, student welfare organisations and local emergency responders to ensure continuous support throughout the week.
All attendees were issued with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) wristbands, enabling controlled access to venues and accommodation, while also allowing authorised teams to instantly access emergency details when necessary. The official shuttle and taxi transport system ensured that movement between accommodation, Cairnbrodgie and all venues took place only via registered transport, reinforcing the festival’s zero-tolerance approach to drinking and driving.
A detailed Plett Rage Safety Guide was made available online ahead of the event, ensuring parents and students could review safety protocols and emergency procedures prior to arrival.
As Plett Rage 2025 came to a close, the organisers reaffirmed their long-standing commitment to creating a secure environment where students are able to celebrate responsibly at this important milestone in their lives, while parents are given complete peace of mind.
“Behind the scenes, our team works on an 18-month marketing cycle to reach attendees across the country, in all major cities and towns, as well as Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. This year’s Rage generated nearly 28 000 bed nights for the town. Here’s to another 25 years of making Plett smile,” said Ronen Klugman, founder of Plett Rage.
