Plett Tourism Pops the Cork on the Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival – rescheduling for 23 & 24 March 2019

Plett Wine and Bubbly Festival 2019The annual event has been moved from October to March, falling in line with the Plett Winelands harvest and the first long-school holidays. Enjoy an epic weekend celebrating some of South Africa’s best bubbly wine from the smallest wine of origin region in South Africa – the Plett Winelands. The Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival is a celebration of the region’s wines and farm-to-table products. Taking place on Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay on the 23rd and 24th of March, 2019. The Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival brings together serious wine collectors, luxury consumers, and adventurous aficionados of lifestyle, providing the perfect opportunity to taste and learn about the world of wine and fine food. Participating products will experience a unique and intimate opportunity to connect with an eager audience of wine and food lovers.

The two-day festival will include grand tastings of the area’s top Methodé Cap Classique (MCC) and wines and a mouth-watering  display of local foods beautifully prepared by artisans and chefs. The event is going into its fifth year, a showcase of Plett’s growing agriculture and culinary projects. “Plett needs a celebration to reflect the area’s culinary and agricultural accomplishments,” says Peter Wallington, Chairman of Plett Tourism Association. “Over the past few years, there has been an influx of farm-to-table products in our area. Due to these products revered as being ‘boutique’ or small, we realised a festival of this nature was the right thing to do. So, with Plett Tourism’s provocation, the festival has climbed new heights and a bubbly dream was born.”

The walk-around tasting will feature a local line-up of MCC wine producers as well as local still wine producers. This includes the first-of-its-kind Sauvignon Blanc MCC, traditional MCC’s and Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and mixed blends of still wines.

Extraordinary culinary delights are planned throughout the Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival, with something for just about everyone.

“This year we are introducing a showcase of farm-to-table products currently being produced in Plett. This includes Honey bush tea, Sceletial tea, olives and olive oil, macadamia nuts and other specialty foods including cheeses, charcuterie and gourmet accompaniments,” says Event Organiser Cindy Wilson-Trollip. She also says, “We are one of the Garden Route’s favourite lifestyle festivals, incorporating local wine, bubbly, artisanal foods and of course our signature sun, surf and sand.”
