#PlettChillOut a Success

The annual Plett ChillOut by one of Kwano’s rising stars, Sivuyile “Sivu” Nkomo and sponsored by Plett Tourism, was as usual a major success.

With 4000 – 5000 people attending this popular event according to Sivu, it was packed both inside and out, but with a twist this year- it was held opposite Skhulu’z Lounge as opposed to the Kwano Stadium.

An interesting fact about this year’s Plett ChillOut was that there were no big headline names to pull the crowds, just local DJ’s and artists. Sivu also says he did his marketing entirely online, mostly on Facebook, with no printed posters and the like.

This is proof enough that the Plett ChillOut, supported by Plett Tourism since its inception in 2016, has grown to be one of those calendar events that Plett must never lose, it has become a tradition.

It has been a few tough months for Sivu though as he was juggling between several jobs including Knysna Municipality’s communication officer, the organiser of Plett ChillOut and also as a student, having to commute to Cape Town to write exams at the same time. However, with dedication and resolve, this 25 year old pulled it off.

Months leading up the Plett ChillOut, its fever was felt as far as Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and the rest of the Garden Route. For an outdoor event like this, and the kind of feet traffic he pulled, he may need to slaughter a goat and thank the Afrikan Gods for the beautiful weather he enjoyed.

Sivu’s next instalment is the Plett ChillOut summer celebration, on this one too he deserves our support.  Watch out for confirmation of the date.  Big ups lad.
