About Shautany Chocolatiers
Founded in 1991, Shautany Chocolatiers has established themselves as one of the leading purveyors of luxury artisanal chocolate in South Africa. What began as a small family business creating pillow chocolates for the hotel industry has grown into a professional and dedicated retail chain with an emphasis on personalised service and unique experience.
27 years ago, Belgian-born Mary-Anne Price and her husband moved to Hazyview, Mpumalanga with their two small children to farm macadamia nuts. She saw the potential to supply South African luxury lodges and hotels with fine Belgian chocolate. This all began out of a factory on their small farm. She experimented in creating a single chocolate coated macadamia nut with later developed into a range of fine chocolate truffles.
The name “Shautany” was created from the names of her two children, Shaun and Tanya. As adults, both children joined the family business which enabled them to perfect and expand their range of chocolates. This small industry grew to great proportions through the years, and their persistence paid off when they officially launched their first retail store in Casterbridge, White River. Due to consumer demand, they now how six stores through the tourists routes of Mpumalanga and the Garden Route.
