SA in Level 3 Lockdown from 16th June

President Ramaphosa has announced that the country will be under Level 3 Covid Lockdown from 16th June 2021 in an effort to reduce the number of Covid 19 infections.

What does this mean?

  • Wearing a mask in public is mandatory.
  • Gatherings may not exceed 50% of the venue capacity, up to a maximum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors.
  • Social distancing must be observed by maintaining 1.5m between people.
  • Funerals are restricted to a maximum of 50 people. There is a 2-hour limit on funerals, and night vigils and post-funeral gatherings are not permitted.
  • Alcohol sales from retail outlets is restricted to Mon – Thu from 10am – 6pm.
  • Public places like restaurants and bars must close by 9pm.
  • Curfew is in place from 10pm to 4am.
