SBOSH TOM  – A TRUE CREATIVE: designer, film producer, journalist, storyteller.

“We have a lot of great stories we need to tell each other and rest of the world. Stories that will inspire, teach and bring common understanding to one another. Creating a platform that will share those stories, from suburbs and townships on one platform is always my mission.”Sbosh Tom

SBosh Tom is the creator of YouTube channel, 204 TV which aims to live stream 10-hour high-quality content that will teach, motivate, entertain, and promote the tourism of Plett, Knysna and George; and to create the widest watched channel in the entire Garden Route, entirely produced by local content producers. Sbosh is passionate about involving young content producers from the region and believes that young people are the future of Plettenberg Bay and the Garden Route and that older, more experienced generations need to be passionate about developing fresh talent. He encourages learners who are considering studying media and communications to work hard because it’s one of the best fields to be in today and into the future. He says: “Find it in you, study it and innovate it.”

SBosh’s personal story starts like so many others of his generation: peer pressure and poor decisions saw him nearly missing obtaining his Grade 12 (Matric).  As a result, he withdrew from society and suffered from depression. He says that during this difficult time, his only friend and family member was the radio. During this time, he developed a love of radio and media, and dreamed of becoming a radio presenter. It was only when Radio Nkqubela (KQfm) was established in Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha) that SBosh saw the possibility of his dream becoming a reality. While he admits that his personality and his ambition did not match to bring his ambition to reality, he was fortunate to work as a show/content producer at the station and managed to turn this into a wonderful learning opportunity. Like any true creative, his highlight is a slogan he created which KQfm still uses as their popular station tagline.

Upon leaving Port Elizabeth for Plett, SBosh expanded his learning by working as a junior designer at The Print Shop where he eventually started a youth magazine, KMAG. Continuing his journey of creativity, SBosh worked with CXPress as a freelance journalist and had the opportunity to work under renowned photographer/videographer, Daron Chatz who is based in Plett. With Daron’s influence, SBosh produced his first 60-minute film which sold 1500 copies within its first week! SBosh’s most recent project, before COVID made it impossible to continue, was his much-loved community newspaper, Plettvoice. However, COVID has given SBosh the opportunity to establish his own online radio station known as Radio204 and the 204TV channel.
