Class descriptions:
Mobility & Flexibility:
It is so often that many of us fail to consider the importance of having full joint mobility and being flexible. Mobility and flexibility does not only significantly improve our quality of living, it also reduces day-to-day pain and increases vascular health. This is crucial for our bodies to be able to function in a healthy way, especially when we are moving and challenging our bodies in so many ways.
Mobility and flexibility training keeps your body strong and healthy and enhances your practice in other activities and sports. So, whether you are a cyclist, golfer, runner, surfer, gym-goer, or someone who does not exercise all that often, it is extremely important to become more aware, and begin to understand how you can incorporate mobility and flexibility in ways that align with you.
These sessions integrate static and dynamic movement and stretching, Functional Range Systems (FRS), Functional Range Conditioning (FRC) and Kinstretch to build maximum body control, flexibility, and range of motion, allowing you to unlock your movement potential.
Yoga & Movement:
Yoga is not about flexibility, or being able to walk on your hands. Yoga is a lifestyle – it is in everything, and it is for everyone.
How you practice yoga is up to you. Yoga is a medicine, a practice of self-discovery, connection and healing – inside and out. The mind benefits from stillness, and the body benefits from movement. Yoga is a moving meditation, the creation of harmony and synchronicity between mind and body, which leads to balanced health and well-being.
Through yoga we practice mindfulness. We focus on our breath as it anchors us in the present moment, and in our bodies. There are various styles of yoga, and they overlap. As in all of my sessions, I take a bottom-up approach, working specifically with you and your goals to determine what is required. As a therapist and social worker I take an eclectic approach to my practice. I consider how trauma is stored in the body, and how yoga can be used as a tool to reintegrate the trauma in a therapeutic way.
My personal style of yoga is a creative integration of play, mindfulness, breathwork and flow inspired by Kinstretch; to build body awareness and connection, flexibility and mobility through a usable range of motions.
We flow and explore different movements that align with your body. You connect to your mind, body and breath in a mindful way, which enhances awareness, strength, mobility and flexibility. I incorporate different styles of yoga – such as vinyasa, restorative and nidra – to align with your needs and goals.
I offer these sessions online and offline, as one-on-one and group sessions, as well as workshops.
