king-melisizweSmall Town Boys and Girls…

That’s the name of the movement KING MELISIZWE introduced us to, a culture of not being limited by where you come from, a culture of having the confidence and ambition to get to the top no matter what.

His song “Into Yam‚ÄĚ expresses this message, and also pays homage to his place of origin (Kwanokutula,¬†Plettenberg Bay).

Plett Tourism supported this initiative which would bring various local talents together to produce a music¬†video for KING, a showcase of ‚Äúour small towns capabilities‚ÄĚ and also a platform for KING to express his¬†message.¬†

Daron Chatz Photography | film were called in as we have the experience to pull the project off properly as well as the association to iKASI MEDIA who we actively train individuals with in order to feed into the SA film industry. Together we are growing and developing the Garden Route film industry.

The concept had us walking the streets of Kwano and Plett with the song playing and asked for organic crowd participation, which we got!

king-logoIt has an all round good feeling and celebrates PLETT and its people. Various locals teamed up to make this project magic, and so far it has been just that. We enjoyed the enthusiastic support from TSHISA TALENT Agency (Stuart Palmer and his crew), especially UNEXPECTED dance group, (discovered at the recent Tshisa Talent Competition) and many others who contributed too.

The video also weaves in press conference and performance scenes as layers as well as showing off the Plett surrounds in the final scene. Many in-camera artists are locals stepping up to help, and we are very grateful to them all for their time and support.

MXO (well known SA music artist) also featured in the video as he is mentoring KING in his music career. Thanks to PLETT tourism he was here to support and contribute to the project. He has since fallen in love with PLETT and we are in discussions around future projects here.

Clothing brands Jonathan D and CUTTY out of Johannesburg were here to dress our artists and give away the items after the shoot just to make experience even more fun!
