The dedicated, formidable team at Nature’s Valley Trust
Meet the four dedicated and talented women of Nature’s Valley Trust: Brittany, Kellyn, Lauren and Mona Lisa.
Brittany Arendse and Kellyn Whitehead are NVT long-serving senior staff, both with MScs in Ecology. Brittany heads up the shorebird research and management programme, and Kellyn, the fynbos research and environmental education programmes. Both were promoted in August 2021, Brittany to act as Director of Nature’s Valley Trust and Kellyn to serve as Administration Manager.
Lauren Moriarty and Mona Lisa Booysen are both interns. Lauren, who also has an MSc, has previously served as an intern and is currently heading up the estuary research, assisting with environmental education and is a Steward on the WESSA Tourism Blue Flag Project. Mona Lisa is a school-leaver who lives at Covie. She is also a WESSA Blue Flag Steward. Additionally, she assists with waste management, fishermen bins and bushbuck monitoring.
As a group, they make a formidable and collaborative team who quietly (sometimes loudly) and conscientiously get the job done.
Nature’s Valley Trust
The Nature’s Valley Trust is a small community-driven NPO working at the cutting edge of integrated conservation in South Africa. Operating in four main arenas: Conservation, Education, Community and Research, NVT takes an holistic view of people and the environment, and use their four programs to help shape how people live, how they view the world around them, and how they as individuals can contribute to conserving the natural world. Nestled in the magnificent Garden Route, and situated in world renowned Nature’s Valley, the trust is a passionate group of conservationists that aim to make a practical difference with the work we do.
