Till Next Year On The Court – The Royal Crusaders
The Royal Crusaders Netball team from Kwanokuthula celebrated its 3rd annual Gala Dinner on Saturday the 29th of November shining a spotlight on the team’s remarkable achievements, including their standout win at the Easter Tournament, a highlight of 2025. Guided by a mission to empower young girls through sports, keeping them in school and away from the challenges faced in townships, the team is deeply grateful for the support that makes their work possible.
The evening was graced by esteemed guests, including Bitou Municipality Speaker, Mavis Busakwe, Lundi Joxo from the Department of Cultural Arts and Culture, Cindy Wilson-Trollip from Plett Tourism, Ruby Chetty from Rotary, Helen from Helen Melon and Yvette Wilschutt. The team’s heartfelt appreciation also extends to Marie Jansen from Masiqhame Trading, a valued sponsor.
Identified by the WC Department of Sport and Culture as sustainable and well managed, the team under the leadership of Vuyolethu Vice, Mandy and Coach Maseza have secured a three-year grant of equipment, sports gear, and transport to games and tournaments – testament to their potential for ongoing success and dedication to discipline and excellence.
The girls were overjoyed as they received their trophies and certificates for their performance and achievements during the year. The camaraderie off the field was evident as the celebration continued after the award ceremony and the music was turned up.
Special appreciation also goes to Sibongile Tom from Radio 204 for capturing the event with great pictures, and to social media managers Yolanda Shoba and Hlela Nkutu for their exceptional work in organizing the gala.
