Virtual and in-situ birding/avitourism training

BirdLife SA is offering birding/avitourism training to interested individuals who can register for Birdlife SA avitourism training here.

The virtual training is scheduled to take place each Monday and Thursday from 30 October onwards until 30 November.

The live sessions will be from 10 – 11 am. It is preferable to attend live because of the interactivity and the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters, but recordings will be made available via BirdLife South Africa’s YouTube channel for those who cannot make the times.

Each person who completes a session will be required to complete a short quiz. There is no pass mark for the quiz, however, completion of the quiz is mandatory for us to credit you with attendance for that session. A certificate of attendance will be issued to each person that completes 50% (5 sessions) of the course.

Those who attend at least 5 sessions and complete the quizzes will get preferential booking for the in-situ guided experiences. This practical element is key to tying together all the skills learned in the virtual training and provides a free opportunity to be mentored by an experienced birder on an experience.

These dates are planned for January and February 2024, but will be announced once virtual training has commenced.
