Plett MAD celebrates cultural, creative and thought provoking expression, a whole new kind of Plett feeling. The 2014 festival includes Plett Kids of Kurland Fringe Theatre and the Plett Food Film Festival; the inspired talent of the Tshisa and Lunchbox Theatre groups take to the streets for Plett Street Theatre. All over town, venues bustle with all things festive – visual arts, installations, craft, street markets, The Heath magical forest night fest, food and music.

The Kids of Kurland project once again premiers Fringe Festival acts as they make their way to Grahamstown. A whole week of theatre magic plays out at The White House from 26 June to 03 July – dance, music, comedy and physical theatre. Come early and catch the live music in the firelit courtyard, with a glass of local wine and warm friends.

The Plett Food Film Festival is the first film festival of its kind in Africa. For 3 days you are invited to indulge your senses in all things culinary, tickling your palate and feasting your eyes. It take place on 10-12 July 2014 and draws local and international film makers and top South African celebrity chefs to join in the discourse, enjoy the films and be enchanted by the presentation of food around the themes explored – a total sensory experience!

Fine artists and sculptors welcome you to view their work on exhibition in Plett and in their studios. The SiteSpecific Land Art Exhibition prods awareness and has awakened Plett to the fact that our energy and natural spaces are perfect as a backdrop for the arts. Check out the progress on the conceptual works for the bird hides. And don’t miss the opening of Vernissage on the 4th July.

Theatre and perfomance groups – Tshisa Talent and Lunchbox Theatre – have been uncovering and nurturing talent from all walks of life, staging shows and growing the administrative, technical, organizational, creative and production expertise to facilitate theatrical events in our town. Beware and be surprised as the players pop up in unexpected places to delight with Plett Street Theatre and on the ground madness.

Plett accommodation, restaurants, pubs, shops and beautiful Plett people will ensure your Plett MAD experience is a good one. Our mountains, forests, wildlife sanctuaries, adrenalin adventures, beaches, whale and bird watching, township and historical meanders provide so many awe-inspiring moments – come and be part of that Plett Feeling.

At the same time, Plett will be hosting The Wedge Classic National Body Boarding Championships and the Plett MTB Triple Challenge. Down the road in Knysna, the ever popular Knysna Oyster Festival will be in full swing and we are close to Grahamstown and The National Arts Festival. This is the area to be in July.
