Two of Greener Surfer John McCarthy’s surfboards were auctioned off on Sunday 9th October at the Sasfin Plett Wine & Bubbly Festival in aid of ‘Adopt a Swimmer’. Jack Mantis took to the floor as the auctioneer, after which John McCarthy handed over the cheque to Louise Auersperg of ‘Adopt a Swimmer’.

The two surfboards together fetched an impressive R27,500.00 which Sasfin then matched, resulting in a total of R55,000.00 being donated to the programme.

Adopt a Swimmer in Plettenberg Bay aims to empower underprivileged children by teaching them pool proficiency, and earlier in the week John McCarthy taught the children more about swimming, surfing and the sea.

A huge thanks goes to both John McCarthy and Sasfin for their generosity and commitment towards this worthy cause.
