Wandisile's Plett

Wandisile’s Plett

As 2017 came to an end, the town of Kwano came alive, with waves of laughter, the clicking of wine glasses and happy feet as they made their way to Skhulu’z Lounge, which was the festive season’s prime spot in Kwano.

I am overwhelmed to see such a large crowd of people gathered inside and outside this once little jazz spot. It’s one of those places in Plett that one has to see if they ever make a spit stop here. It’s also one of the places that make Plett a bit more vibrant and worthwhile as a destination.

Skhulu’z Lounge is obviously doing something right to have gotten that much foot traffic in almost every weekend during December, partly thanks to Plett Tourism for making the lounge a prime example of what ‘Township Tourism’ should look like in the Bay, particularly when packaged correctly.

I felt a sense of pride every time I visited, knowing that the under-dogs, the small guys, and often forgotten places of our coastal town, are finally stepping up to the plate and doing it for themselves.

I loved the carefree attitude of the locals, and visitors alike, where choosing what type of drink was their only problem.

The street was filled with young adults, ending the year that was, many were dancing, while others partook in intense conversations, with laughter galore in between.

From the start of the festive season right up to the New Year’s Eve, and over to 2018, Skhulu’z Lounge kept us aloft. As we enter 2018, I am excited at what Skhulu’z Lounge has to offer us in the coming years.
