ben-badenhorst-aka-ben-badBen has been playing guitar for 18 of his 28 years.  He encompasses vast stylistic areas, including Maskanda, Jazz, Indian Classical, Progressive Rock, Fusion,  Middle Eastern and Avant-garde.

Ben has worked with a veritable who’s who of SA music including Anton Goosen, Offshore Jazz Ensemble, Mynie Grove, Wendy Oldfield, Albert Frost and many others.

Ben is a seeker of musical virtuosity and practices constantly to achieve maximum efficiency of movement and total control. His playing is notable for an unusually clear, broad-spectrum tone, extreme definition and clarity at high speed as well as a highly idiosyncratic and unusual choice of notes. He has garnered attention for his fretless guitar work.

Ben is a composer creating a unique blend of Maskanda, Kwaito, Jazz and World Music pieces.  His compositions feature dazzling displays of guitar oddities, as well as lush textures, hypnotic rhythms, and flowing arrangements.
