Ben has been playing guitar for 18 of his 28 years. He encompasses vast stylistic areas, including Maskanda, Jazz, Indian Classical, Progressive Rock, Fusion, Middle Eastern and Avant-garde.
Ben has worked with a veritable who’s who of SA music including Anton Goosen, Offshore Jazz Ensemble, Mynie Grove, Wendy Oldfield, Albert Frost and many others.
Ben is a seeker of musical virtuosity and practices constantly to achieve maximum efficiency of movement and total control. His playing is notable for an unusually clear, broad-spectrum tone, extreme definition and clarity at high speed as well as a highly idiosyncratic and unusual choice of notes. He has garnered attention for his fretless guitar work.
Ben is a composer creating a unique blend of Maskanda, Kwaito, Jazz and World Music pieces. His compositions feature dazzling displays of guitar oddities, as well as lush textures, hypnotic rhythms, and flowing arrangements.
Don’t miss him at the Plett Food Film Festival on Saturday 11 July 2015.
