The 4th staging of the Isuzu Trucks PEPlett starts at the magical Kurland Polo Fields outside of Plettenberg bay. The 2016 race will see the introduction of a new LITE category which is a shorter and easier route and affords those not so serious riders the opportunity to be part of this 4 Day MTB adventure.

This is a wonderful opportunity for those not so serious bikers to enjoy one of the finest MTB stage races on the calendar.
The coastline between Plettenberg Bay and Port Elizabeth is mountain bike heaven and the LITE riders will enjoy a maximum of 60km each day of great Gravel Roads, Jeep Track and most definitely some small single track challenges en route.
The LITE riders have on option of Solo or Team
Moving into its 4th year, Isuzu Trucks PEPlett has evolved into one of those MTB events that is on the bucket list of many Mountain Bikers and we believe that the introduction of the LITE category will be a feeder to “ The Tough One”. Having a separate LITE route also allows the organisers the option to utilise parts of these routes if we need to shorten the main event due to weather or any other reason.
The Tough one remains
With prize money over R200 000, the Tough one remains.
We have kept our distances between race villages shorter to cater for the LITE riders. But now we have the option to vary the route enormously and build in some great new tracks and create a bigger and better race.
Teams of two and Solo riders will make up the field and daily distances will be under 100km with climbing averaging out at 1800 to 2000 meters per day.
Avoiding the traffic and inherent dangers of travelling into the city by finishing at Woodridge which was the 2014 Day 3 village makes enormous sense. It also allows us to create the most incredible tracks for the last 20kms utilising the 3 Rivers Trails bike park which will bring the Riders home.
Exposing the Lite Riders to the Pros is also unique and will make for a bigger support base at the Finish lines.
