The legendary film director Koos Roets makes a special appearance in Plett during screening of his award-winning film ‘n Pawpaw vir my Darling

Emily Moon River Lodge will host the screening of ‘n Pawpaw vir my Darling on Thursday, the 1st of October – the evening includes an introduction of the film by Koos Roets, the screening, a pizza to order for each guest and an open discussion with opportunity to engage with the director. The evening is a fund raising and celebratory event for a new film being produced in Plett. Tables are available for 2, 4 or 8 guests.

Film director Roets will be in Plett on a location scout for his next film, “Ikhapara Hop”, a human drama based in Kranshoek. The film will include the local Riel dance (Ikhapara) and the modern hip hop dance genres as pivotal cultural symbols. They will also be the backdrop against which the story of tragedy and reconciliation and triumph plays out.

Local impresario and producer, Marius Murths, has been at the forefront of the initiative and the drive to raise funds for the short film, which will serve as a pilot to raise finance for a full-length feature. The Bitou Municipality and Plett Tourism are in full support of the project and have pledged a grant in aid.
