Notice to all users of Municipal potable drinking water for good water management habits and practices for the continuation to limit the use of water in order to conserve this precious commodity.

Residents are encouraged to continue with the ‘good water management habits and practices’ already achieved previously of water conservation. The water situation needs to be continuously managed due to the expected tourist and non-resident home owner influx.

Saving water has become a priority not only for the Bitou Municipality but the entire country, and residents are urged to be mindful of using the precious commodity carefully.

The previous savings demonstrated during the drought period experienced, indicated that it is possible to manage our water demand and use water responsibly.”

Residence with boreholes are encouraged to use borehole and grey water for gardening purposes instead of the clean water. Saving water is an excellent way to show that you care and are willing to do your bit to conserve this precious commodity. This will be beneficial for the entire community and for future generations. The more we can save now the better for the next generation also.

The Bitou Municipality appeals to all residents and visitors to be mindful of the water situation in the world and country and therefore urges residents to be wise with water usage as part of water conservation and good water management habits and practices.

The Municipality further appeals to the following measures to be taken:

  • Report any water leaks seen or identified
  • Ensure toilet leaks are fixed
  • Don’t let water run if not in use/don’t leave taps running
  • Keep on saving, even when it’s raining

Kindly report any defaulters by calling Pikkie Lombard or Wellington on (044) 501 3121 or 083 401 4186 during office hours or the call centre at 086 124 8686.
