How are the National Lotteries Commission helping to uplift emerging talent?
Tshisa Talent have discovered some great talent within the communities in the Knysna Plett area over the past 5 years and are now empowering the deserving to take control so that they can achieve greater career success.
It is one thing to be ‘discovered’ however what does it take to become truly successful? Is overnight success a myth or is it possible? What does it take to stand out head and shoulders above the crowd? Who must we rely on to make a success of our chosen career?
Tshisa Talent have discovered some exciting talent through the Competitions that they have held in Plettenberg Bay and Knysna over the past five years. The obvious next step is to add even more value so that artists are empowered to take ownership of their own careers.
Those who have already demonstrated that they are self-starters who have committed to uplifting themselves were invited to a special Career Development Workshop held at Ingwe in The Crags over the weekend of 7 October 2017. As team leader, Mncedisi Ncedani said, “We will receive not what we idly wish for, but what we justly earn. Our rewards are always in proportion to the effort we invest. It is the same with any dream of a career in the performing arts.”
The vital topics of Goals and Financing your career were covered by Stuart Palmer. Two accomplished facilitators, Lamise Inglis from Ikasi Media and Ebrahiem Inglis from EB Music enlightened attendees on the subjects of rights, royalties, brand management and social media marketing – which proved to be very pertinent and popular. This was followed by a session to uncover the delegates’ Wish Lists which, not surprisingly, included assistance on recording albums and DVDs and branding through clothing identities. Tshisa Talent will continue to provide assistance to make the artistes dreams come true. As hip-hop dancer, Enrico Sam said, “I now know what to do to make a success of my talent.”
Those who attended were awarded with Attendance Certificates and will be embarking on two exciting Tshisa Roadshows. On the weekend of 2nd December, they will be headed towards Riversdale and on 9 December they will be touring to Humansdorp.
