3000 Participants transform Plett’s beaches into a 5K canvas of colour during the first Color Run ™ in Plett

As part of its Summer Tour series, the original of all powder races – The Color Run ™ – hosted it’s first in Plett on Sunday, 21 December to give locals and visitors the time of their lives! 3000 participants celebrated at the finish line on Central Beach while hundreds of spectators joined in with ‘colour bombing’. From prams to professionals, this year’s inaugural race was viewed as a “breath of fresh air” and a welcome surprise to visitors and locals. This is hopefully the first of many for years to come. This was the happiest 5K on the planet today between 10am and 12 noon in Plett. More than half of the participants are first-time 5K runners and the event is making headway on the national focus of improving health and wellness.

Hosted in more than 50 countries and known as the happiest 5K on the planet, The Color Run ™ celebrates health, happiness and individuality. The Color Run is the world’s largest single-event series and enjoys the participation of over four million people globally. Plett has been selected as one of the fifteen towns in The Color Run 2014 national series, and is lived up to its promise to paint the town red…blue, green and yellow. The Plett beaches were full of colourful families and friends on this sunny day.

The Color Run is part of the Plett Summer Festival, one of Plett Tourism’s yearly festivals. The #PlettSummer has some fresh, new events including The Clemen Gold Hobie Regatta, The Color Run ™ and SAB’s much awaited-for Republic of Cold.
