The Magic of Music through a local lens: Fvcedown & Kwano Entertainment
Thembela Tapu is better known as Fvcedown. Born and raised in Plett, he is a songwriter, music producer and a sound engineer. He studied sound engineering in Cape Town Rise Academy 2020. That’s where he got the love for the Xhosa trap.
Xhosa t(rap) is having a moment as artists in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape gain national attention for their distinct Xhosa raps. Thembela has focused on Xhosa trap and also expanded into Afro-pop. In 2024, he decided to start a record label, working with various talented artists around Plettenberg Bay. He is another example of the sheer talent and artistic power that continues to bloom in Plett’s Kwanokuthula.
Thembela admits that it’s tough but that he and his team are doing their best: “We try our best to be consistent even though it’s rough. The only thing that we ask for is that if you like our music, like and subscribe.” He has just released a new EP, as Fvcedown, which can be enjoyed below:
