7de Laan, the popular South African soap opera, has filmed scenes on location in Plettenberg Bay’s Stanley Island, a sought-after destination in South Africa. This new storyline promises to captivate viewers and offer a unique viewing experience.
The decision to film on location on Stanley Island and around Plettenberg Bay was made to showcase the beauty of South Africa’s unique locations, and to offer viewers a different perspective of the country. The stunning scenery of the island serves as the perfect backdrop for the riveting storyline, which promises to keep viewers engaged and entertained.
“7de Laan has always been about celebrating the beauty of South Africa, and showcasing the unique aspects of our country to our viewers,” said Thandi Ramathesele, the show’s Executive Producer. “Filming in Plettenberg Bay allows us to do just that, and we’re excited to share this breathtaking location with our audience” adds Frances Maposa,7de Laan Line Producer.

This move to film on a location rarely seen in soapies is a game-changer in the soap opera landscape. It offers viewers a fresh and exciting experience, while also highlighting the beauty of South Africa’s lesser-known locations.
“Working closely with the Bitou Municipality and Plett Tourism teams was an absolute pleasure, and together we were able to capture the beauty of Plettenberg Bay in all its glory, the community was warm and welcoming, which made our experience all the more memorable,” says Siyabonga Mkhize, the director of these episodes.
The new storyline filmed on Stanley Island promises to be a standout moment and it’s an experience that South African soap opera fans won’t want to miss and one that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Stanley Island is a private island and nature reserve that lies nestled in the heart of the Keurbooms River in Plett offering self-catering accommodation, river cruises, yoga, game viewing, eventing and more. Visitors can dock their boat, land their plane or take a ferry across to this unique location.
“Plett has been a location of choice for many international and South African films. The productions inject a significant economic contribution. It was a pleasure to welcome one of SAs favourite soapies to our shores,” shares operations manager, Cindy Wilson-Trollip.
