The first of this year’s biblical epics is based on the story of Noah, itself based on the much older Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh, and with considerable artistic licence, which has upset some religious people around the world. One of the descendants of Adam and Eve, Noah is warned in dreams of an impending disaster and given instructions to build an ark to save himself and his family. In due course the waters arrive, leading to much violence as the population struggles to survive. Noah and family meanwhile discover an unexpected guest.
