The tourism community of Plettenberg Bay came together on Wednesday 31 August to attend Plett Tourism’s AGM which took place at The White House Theatre. The meeting was very well attended with numbers totalling 80 people altogether.

Chairman of Plett Tourism, Peter Wallington, presented a 72 page slideshow highlighting achievements over the past three years, noting areas in which work had been done and other stats and figures relating to the tourism industry in Plett between 2015 and 2016. Click here to download the slideshow (PDF 5Mb).

After the presentation attendees were asked to present questions or comments, and this part of the meeting was very well received with the audience putting forward questions and providing feedback lasting nearly as long as the presentation itself. Comments were heard from many different sectors of the industry, including hotels, activities, community, businesses and restaurants. A number of points raised centred around development of tourism in previously disadvantaged areas, a product which Plett Tourism has been assisting in growing over the past 3 years and aims to focus on with the help of Bitou Municipality and the department of Local Economic Development.

The atmosphere in the hall was very positive overall with many members and interested parties expressing their approval and gratitude for the way in which tourism has been promoted in the area over the past 3 years.
